Just recieved and watched Against All Flags from 1952 for the first time. It was part of this collection “Pirates of the Golden Age Movie Collection (Against All Flags / Buccaneer’s Girl / Yankee Buccaneer / Double Crossbones”
I enjoyed it and was glad to see that the quality of the print is good. It does not seem to suffer from the problems of Dodge City and Essex with the 3 stip not quite lining up for every scene. I have a Sharp LED 60in TV with a Panasonic Blu Ray player just to let you know where I am coming from. For $12.99 I took a chance and its a good thing I did. From what I can see it is the only way to get the film.
I think that you can get it as a “single” movie, too, but supposedly only here in Europe? I saw several offers on amazon… or did you mean BluRay? What do you mean by “the 3 stip not quite lining up”, please?
Sorry about that Inga. Strip not stip.
Technicolor used to be 3 “strips” of film one blue, one red and one yellow I think, that when put together gave us the full color spectrum. If not done carefully, some scenes will look a bit like the 3d image without the glasses. I guess San Antonio has the same problem but I dont have that one yet.
Ah ok, thanks! I have San Antonio, but I cannot tell you if it was done carefully enough as I don’t seem to have such an amazing eye as you have. My greatest respect!
As for SFT, this would be really interesting to know. Most DVD versions are worse than the one I recorded from television a few years back!!! I never found a decent DVD version – is there one?
