Browsing around found the attached.  I hadn't seen them before . . .

    Hi Kathleen;
    Great finds!
#1. He is in the commissary or also called Cafeteria on the Warner lot to have his lunch or his Din-Din when making Robin Hood!
#2. He is with his wife who visited him on the set of Robin Hood.
#3. He is in the process of flying his Airplane.
#4. He is having a shower and as always there is no privacy for him as the gawkers keep on his heels!
Anybody having a different definition? I love to know!

    Hi Kathleen-
As to the question of what he appears to be carving- it looks like a pack of either Camels or Lucky Strikes, (unfiltered, of course) with a pack of matches slipped in between the cellophane and the cigarette package itself.
I know he smoked the brand English Ovals later in life (and the ones that sell today, anyway, their packing is more flat in thickness, and square in shape) but don't know about his brand of choice from around this time. It could also be someone else's pack …
    Anyway, just another possibility.
    Best- Karl

Karl, I thought the very same thing–that it was cigarettes, but why the fork. Apparently he was doing one of his joking around shots that he is famous for. The plate and cup are put to the side and I also noticed the matches too!

By the way, if “Arch” is still alive I bet he would have some stories to tell. Not sure how to go about contacting him on the website.

It's cake, you can see the layers of icing. ;)
Just a little tidbit of information about Errol's tastes in food: He liked orange blossom honey in his tea. :)

I guess this is as good a place to post this:
I have an extra, spanking new DVD “Adventures of Errol Flynn” documentary (I got sent two)
Maybe they thought I hadn't received the first one? :)
If anyone doesn't have one, and would REALLY appreciate it, let me know. :)
    I'll mail it to you.

    Hi Elayna-
I can “see” the cake possibility also in the look of it, but … to the right of the “cake” is an ash tray (notice the individual cigarette resting points along the rim) and it just makes sense that a pack of smokes would be resting next to such an associated item.
Add to this idea, an impromptu moment of humor (or even an unconscious momentary distraction), and poking a “pack” with a fork makes more sense (to me) overall, as compared to putting a piece of cake on a table surface (which you will note is also very orderly in its set up) and doing the same action …
In the end though, I do concede, even stranger tales have surfaced as regards his behavior …

The idea of a pack of smokes is rather humourous. :)
Tiny little piece of cake, though. :)
