We didn't have a quiz question going for a long time and I thought it is about time for one! Please participate and show your knowledge about Errol!
This is a four part question!
1. Who was Max Flynn?
2. How did Max come into Errol Flynn's life – what was the reason?
Max Flynn admired a special person, in particular he thought of him as a generous warm-heart and with a very unique and rare talent.
3. Who was this person?
4. What was this special rare talent of his?
Deadline Saturday!
Good Luck!

We have a quiz question going, Tina – it's not yet finished, I think. Anyway, nice question.

1. Errol's uncle
2. He needed money and acquired Errol's phone number from Marelle
3. This question is suspiciously similar to question #1 and I refuse to answer again
4. He was a shoe salesman

Sorry Inga, I didn't realize it – is it still going? There doesn't seems to be any activity with it? When will it end?
Shall I remove my question?

No, of course not! The other question is an open end question. We will not know the complete answer for a long time, I think. I keep discovering, but don't know if anybody else does.

This probably isn't it but how about A fictional Character. Jon Cypher who played “Max Flynn” on Murder, she wrote. The episode with Trial and Error.
How about the answer?

But I already gave the answer (said in Pee-Wee Herman's frustrated voice)!

Oh, I didn't know. I thought because Tina commented under the Baron Quiz about guessing that it was ongoing. Pardon me…..

Hi Robert – come to think of it – “Pee Wee” sounds like one of Errol's dogs!
Are you sure “(said in Pee-Wee Herman's frustrated voice)” and not in Tiny Tim's when you tip toe through the tulips making us laugh with answers like only these comedians could think of!
I keep saying you would be great, hope to see you one of these days on the Comedy Channel #44 here.

Hi Patti;
You made a great guess but it is not that Max Flynn!
Your quiz Patti is a tough one – I am stymied.
Inga will get it – I wonder why she ignores Max?

September 17, 2011 at 5:35 pm
Ouh, sounds good as well… better than mine!
Anonymous

I don't ignore him, but it is something I cannot solve with the internet and I didn't have time to go through my books plus I wanted others to have a chance, too. …

Hi Patti I think I solved question 3.
John Barrymore – Baron Felix von Gaigern in Grand Hotel with Greta Garbo. Relating to Errol = close friends with John Barrymore!

I meant Pee-Wee Herman specifically.

You wil find it. Certainly it is not Cabot! With friends like that as they say…..
Anonymous
September 17, 2011 at 11:23 pm
Dipidido I agree with you!
With friends like that it is better to have enemies, because we know they are not friends.
Anyway, in this case it has to be David Niven! Unless this part of Albert De Regnier is a Baron in Bluebeard, buy I don't think so!
Stymie you have us stymied!

Stymie Beard was, in fact, in “Captain Blood”, playing the part of…..?

I keep checking the Comedy Channel 44, but you are not scheduled. I keep waiting and don't send a message back “Just keep hanging in there!”

Just keep hanging in there. Actually, I'll be at the Hollywood Improv, tomorrow. And btw, my Stymie question is legit.

I never know when you are kidding but when you are on board it is impressive.
So you are going to be tomorrow at Hollywood Improv, a Comedian Club on 8162 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
(323) 651-2583
Please give some details why you are visiting there.
Are you performing?
Are you taking lessons?
Are you commissioned?
And another amazement – Mathew Stymie Beard was in Captain Blood as the attendant of the Governor – the boy with the feather fan providing cool air.
He has a great performance record since he was 5 years old and played with the greatest kids show ever “The Little Rascals” See the link for his picture – he is on the left!

Max Flynn, slick superspy?
Could it be Max Flynn the character in the series of Peter James' books?

The governor's attendant–Matthew “Stymie” Beard. Tricky, Robert.

That's the place. But I'm neither performing, studying, or commissioned; I leave the dangerous activity of stand-up to the pros. But I will be amongst many of my comedian friends attending a humorous memorial service–an Ice Creamation–for a dear mutual friend who recently died.

The blog was off line and I couldn't get on it!
Ok – you girls are giving up?
I am sorry to hear that and I am disappointed as by gosh and golly you do not know your MWWW bible!
On page 303 – 1st edition or any other edition on page 263 you will find a short paragraph of four lines who Max Flynn really was.
1. Max Flynn was Errol Flynn
2. Because Max was Errol!
3. George Jessel
4. George was the best ad-libber of all them all, and even the comics admit this.
Yeap, this is the simple story, I always say know your Flynn-bible!
Didn't they say there is gold in them hills – hahahah – love ya all!

Nope. But since Tina's answer is incomplete, you have an opportunity to shore up the loose end.

September 19, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Robert, I had no idea this was a quiz now that you point it out I most certainly will answer it.
Doesn't everybody know the young man with the dog in 'Rocky Mountain'?
Dick Jones was 10 years old and a veteran actor in Hollywood when Walt Disney cast him as the voice of Pinocchio in 1939. The young actor, whose screen name was “Dickie” Jones, had already appeared in nearly 40 motion pictures.
Dick appeared in a few more films, including his favorite, “Rocky Mountain,” starring Errol Flynn, which, as he pointed out, “marks the first time in motion picture history the United States Cavalry arrived too late – we all died.”
Am I a winner?
Anonymous
September 19, 2011 at 6:01 pm
I am somehow lost here. So Dick Jones died recently? It is somehow difficult to follow this thread here. Or maybe it's just me, tired and worn-out… or whatever I am.
Tina, you quiz question was tricky. I'm glad now somehow I didn't have time for the search, I would have been frustrated only because of not finding the answer.
I opt for someone new to ask a question. Rachel, or David himself?

Here is a wonderful write-up with pictures of Errol fitting with Robert's quiz and toward the end of the article is mentioned about Dick Jones and his dog!

Hi Inga;
We missed seeing this as a quiz question by Robert – do you see?
That's MR. Tricky to you! And not only were other Little Rascals (or Our Gang) members in films with Flynn, so was Pinocchio.
Now I have answered one part of the question about Pinocchio and one film with Errol but there is more to the question as you see!
SIR TRICKY sort of camouflaged his quiz! One always has to be on the ball with Sir Tricky!

September 19, 2011 at 6:41 pm
I finally understood all this. Took me a bit longer this time. So your question, Robert, was: which other stars from “our gang” played in Flynn films? Interesting! I found the following: Scotty Beckett in Charge of the Light Brigade. Nanette Fabray was rumoured to be in Our Gang, but eventually wasn't. Still someone missing?
Anonymous
September 19, 2011 at 7:18 pm
I am checking on the child actors of Our Gang and Little Rascals,
I found under many others, who I am not able at present to link to an Errol Movie, but I will – maybe; I found Billie “Buckwheat” Thomas you called Patti “Buckwheat” and I wonder why?
I can't find – so far – no connection to Errol with Billie “Buckwheat” Thomas either – can you give us some hints please!
Nothing goes easy with you – does it!

September 19, 2011 at 7:39 pm
I think Buckwheat was a hint at Dickie Jones because he explained this name in “Rocky Mountain”?
Anonymous
September 19, 2011 at 7:41 pm
Not at all. It was only a phrase from the Little Rascals that I knew Patti would get. Nothing mysterious.
Anonymous
September 19, 2011 at 7:42 pm
But Inga this is what's all about in a quiz – you should be frustrated!
Why have a quiz if we are not frustrated? There would be no fun in it if we know everything right of the top of your heads. The fun is in the quest – think about it! Relax and have fun!

Maybe, but if you do not find the answer the frustration is growing. At least that's me. :-) Btw, I would have a photo quiz, but would like others to post their questions first.
