I am experimenting just like you and I thought if Errol is pulling for us it just might do the trick!
I had considerable trouble with my first posting “Thank you David”.
I find that one MUST WATCH the blue “PUBLISH” button on the very RIGHT, beside “Move to Trash” once it goes into “Update” trouble starts. Plus and most important – I think is – the post does not vanish it stays – yet it posts it. After you post open a second browser – go to the blog and check that it is there.
BTW, about the squares I spoke about in the MEDIA file, I was wrong saying – no Square – no picture. IT IS: no square – no EDIT FUNCTION. I corrected it also in my post and forwarded my findings to David.
You never answered me about my findings of the SQUARES problem!
Don’t go to bed just yet – we are making headway – Errol is pulling!
Take care – Tina
Tina! I have fixed the problem of Authors being able to edit the comments of other Authors. Now Authors will be able to edit only their own posts and comments – And for some reason the photo that goes with Errol is pulling for us is a broken link. I don’t find the image in the Library, either? Can you upload the image again? I would like to see it!
The Squares seem to appear when you are the author of that post? What was the problem? I must check again, but normally YOU should see other squares than I do. I see one in front of the “India” comments, for example.
Hi Inga!
Maybe information overload has set in? LOL
Now lets take it step by step with the SQUARES.
1.) Dashboard click on it – you will find
Posts
Media
Comments
A.) POSTS: – all post have a squares in front of the post – I mark the square position with an X
Sample of the top of the page:
X Title Author Categories Tags Comments Date
X In Praise Of Jamaica by George Meickel
Tina Promo No Tags
B.) MEDIA Library: -Non of the pictures have THE Square in that place – EXCEPT my picture I posted of late. YOUR QUIZ pictures do NOT have a square, which they should have if you are the author – AS YOU SAY.
The square are needed as they activate NEEDED editing functions.
C.) COMMENTS: – a square is needed to have editing functions BUT David informed us that this will not happen this is not wise to have but we will be able to edit our very own comments only.
We NEED the SQUARES in POSTS and MEDIA
Anyway – as you are asking “What is the problem? – that is the problem – at least one of them. Please look it up and see what I am talking about.
Tina, as I said: for you, other posts have squares than for me. The “In Praise of Jamaice” article has a square for YOU, because you are the author. It does not have one for me. The square means you can perform actions as an author, like edit, delete it. I can’t do this for your posts.
Same for the pictures: only YOUR picture which YOU posted has a square. FOR ME; my quiz picture HAS a square.
OK?
Funny, on another computer but my own I now don’t see the picture anymore.
It SHOULD be in the library as I uploaded it some time ago. It must be in the album “The last years” or something like it…
Wow – all this conversation about it when it could have been explained by simply saying:
The squares are edit functions and are only seen by the individual author who is the initiator of the post or picture – no author sees the other authors SQUARES.

Am I understanding this right? You don’t see your quiz picture on another persons computer but you see it on your own?
Your Quiz pictures (2) are in the Media library – only they have no square in front of them!
—album “The last years” or something like it…???? I don’t understand?

No no, I saw my quiz picture on every computer. But not your picture from this post here.
And YES… MY quiz pictures do NOT have a square FOR YOU, because I posted them. FOR ME, they HAVE a square because I can edit and delete them.
Originally, I had posted this picture over on the old blog in an album called “The last years” or something similar.
