Welcome, and thank you for this amazing photo! May I ask where and when it was taken?

It looks a bit as if it’s the wrong way round again? (hair parted on the wrong side?)

Hello Jim,
Welcome to the blog!
Can you give us some further information on your book please?
As much as a new Flynn book makes the hairs on my neck stand up I think the title needs a little explaining and a photograph of Flynn in San Antonio next to the word ‘Oscar’ made me chuckle – in a good way!!
best wishes,
Brian.

Good afternoon Brian, the “San Antonio” photo has always been a favorite of mine because it captures the persona of Errol in a unique way. He is depicted as strong, mysterious and ready for whoever or whatever comes his way. As far as the word Oscar, this book is not a biography, it evaluates Errol’s performances in his most memorable roles. It goes deeply into comparisons of the roles that were nominated, or won in the same year that Errol’s movie of each year was released. The additional part of the title, The Quest etc., refers to how a new generation of fans as well as the current legion of fans will quite possibly see Errol receive an Oscar for his contribution to the motion picture industry, as well as, his complete and diverse body of work. I will be describing more of the book when it is released and hope I have answered some of your questions and thanks for your thoughts. There are many forms of media that I intend to get involved with “The Quest for an Oscar”. Errol has been overlooked for far too many years, its really time, Errol’s time.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the response. I was a little skeptical when I first saw the book cover and title. I think I’m still suffering from the burns of the Dramov book!
I really like the premise of this now, guess I had better hold off from asking too many questions.
If I can be of any help in any way, please let me know. I have a pretty large collection of Flynn photographs, clippings and articles among other things.
best wishes,
Brian.

I’ve never seen that photo before and it gives me goosebumps! My Dad was a pilot and much more. This photo reminds me of him very much And the period of this photo looks like Errol is about mid 40’s I would say.
Looking forward to your book Jim.

Jim, could you give us details on the photo? Is my guess correct that it was taken in Italy?
