Today’s Errol Flynn Assignment

10 Apr

flynnsword

Here’s a full page magazine advertisement I thought I’d share. I’m interested in seeing if those of you with digital skills might be interested in restoring it. I’m not so good at digital manipulation. I think more than a few of you could clean this up. It’s a nice image and it just needs some loving care. Might be fun to see what you all come up with.  Belligerents are encouraged to adhere to The Marquess of Queensberry rules. I’m taking a trip and will return in a week. Have fun with this!

Any and all “Belligerents” may need to digitally-restore this first, Shamrock. I think the latter sections of the rules may address the ever-worrisome issues of snobbiness & snarkiness. Bon voyage, Sir Shamrock!

May the best man or woman win. (As this is beyond my skill level & pay grade, I won’t be “competing”. Moreover, as Bob Hope also experienced, my boxing career ended because of damaged hands – the referees kept stepping on them.)

LOL I love the Gentleman Jim photo. But I do hope someone will take a crack at restoring this. There are some very talented people on this blog, including you. See you all later!

You’re right, Lollie. Errol was GREAT in Gentleman Jim. Raoul Walsh really knew how to showcase Errol’s extradordinary acting talents, athleticism & charm. Ward Bond was exceptional, too. And Alan Hale. All the cast, in fact, were tremendous. It’s one of the very best movies I’ve ever seen. Perfect for Errol, and vice versa.

Really cool, zacal! And really impressive!! Love especially how you captured the eyes.

Here’s the “Modern Sea Hawk” himself – “As colorful as the law allows”!

I tried posting my assignment but it doesn’t seem to show up. (Any help, Tim? ;) Interesting to see those colors. Oh, if it had only been in Technicolor…

I posted the actual image url above to get the pic to show up. :-)

Sorry zacal. Both my sons are both (professionally) so good in visual arts and digital image creation & restoration that I’ve been remiss in learning and doing it myself. Additionally, virtually all (>95%) of my internet work & posting is done on a very small screen cell phone – which is why I often have to edit my posts for spelling, and sometimes sentence structure. I know you’re great at this though. So, can’t wait to see what you & everyone is able to do. It’s a great & important talent that I very much admire.
