From The Errol Flynn Blog Mailbag!

07 May

Mark Young, our Author, writes that he discovered an interview of Errol speaking in French to a French interviewer about his film Against All Flags, and a few other topics about his life:

In case you are wondering, yes, Mark is related to the same Young family Errol is related to! He wonders how many other interviews Flynn gave in French? And where are they?

Just so you know about me, I am always scanning the net for photos and images of my hobby’s in this case Errol Flynn. He is a big one and there a others but for now he is one of my passions. Big Bang Theory is about geeks and we are geeks of Errol I think. I found another site with cool photos and I am now sharing with you all in case you don’t know about it. It has many photos of Flynn but you have to search a bit maybe. The question on this photo: is it from Hello God?

The Sea-Hawk by Rafael Sabatini

06 May

Sea-Hawk2Errol Flynn’s “The Sea-Hawk” is a great film. But it isn’t really based on the novel by Rafael Sabatini. It only uses its famous title. I made this for fun, using actual dialogue from Sabatini’s book.

EFB Mailbag! Hello, God! Restoration!

06 May

Received this from Robb Callahan at the Errol Flynn Estate in the mailbag:

Hi David, Hello God was not destroyed. The original film was found last year in the basement of the surrogate court in NYC.  The film is now being restored at the George Eastman House in NY.  The film was shot using silver nitrate film stock.  There were 7 canisters of film.  Two of the canisters were completely deteriorated. The other 5 are being restored. Unfortunately with the two missing canisters the film won’t be complete, but it would be good viewing what remains.

Best

Robb

Errol’s ‘lost’ films.

06 May

Errol in Murder At Monte Carlo

I have read that two of Errol earliest movies – I Adore You (1933) and Murder At Monte Carlo (1934) are considered as being ‘lost’ films. What a shame. It makes it even more remarkable that In The Wake Of The Bounty (1933) still exists. It would be wonderful if these films,or even some clips from them, turn up somewhere one day.I hope they do,as it has happened many times before with other old movies.

I have also read that Errol makes a cameo in a movie called Always Together (1947).I haven’t been able to get a copy of this movie myself, but just wondered if anyone else has seen it and if Errol is indeed in it at all? As I have read that he is,yet I have also read that his scene (or scenes) were edited out of the movie?

Then there is Hello God (1951) of which the original print is said to have been destroyed by Errol himself after an argument? Is this true and is this film ‘lost’ too?

The Story Of William Tell (1953) looks like (from the few clips available) it would have been a terrific movie also.Such a shame Errol didn’t get to finish it.

Errol’s Most Beautiful Dates & Girlfriends

05 May

As we (and most all of the first world!) know, one of the things Errol is most famous for is his astonishing list of gorgeous dates & girlfriends. Some of these stunning beauties remain legendary; some are almost entirely forgotton. How about we try to list as many as possible, with images from relevant timeframes when possible!

To start, may I introduce the magnificent Mary Ann Hyde:
