Warner Archive is releasing three more Errol Flynn titles from their collection.
‘Another Dawn’ (1937) with Flynn wasted in the entire film holding Kay Francis’ endless coats and furs.
‘Escape Me Never’ (1947) Flynn is out of character playing a total cad in this period film.
‘The Warriors’ (1955) Errol Flynn’s last movie swashbuckler. The DVD is in widescreen. When Flynn fans finally see a good copy of this film they may re-evaluate their opinions upward. Peter Finch, Joanne Dru, and Christopher Lee also appear.

“Another Dawn” is not a great film. But it is a tremendous example of the power of Flynn’s screen presence. I read one review that described him as “dripping with glamour”. This is Errol Flynn at his peak as a movie star with no end in sight, photographed by the great Tony Gaudio, who also photographed Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and, eventually, Flynn’s “The Adventures of Robin Hood”.
As for “The Warriors”, I once read a quote from co-star Peter Finch regarding Flynn. He said Flynn told him, “Stop acting. Look at me, I don’t act and I’m a star.” It was Flynn’s sincerity on screen that made us believe him, while the renowned “actors” of the day, like Lionel Barrymore for example,(apologies, Barrymore fans) become more exposed as artificial and mannered as time goes on.

Zacal;
I agree when Errol made ‘Another Dawn’ he is certainly at the zenith of his good looks and charm. But let’s face it ‘Another Dawn’ is not an Errol Flynn movie, it’s a Kay Francis movie. In fact it’s a ‘Kay Francis Fashion Show’! Your posted photo tells us everything. A better title for this film would be ‘Another Gown’.
To be sure Kay Francis was a great glamorous star and the only actress to give Bette Davis serious competition at Warner Bros. Ralph

Tim;
Miscasting is right. ‘Escape Me Never’ is a good woman’s picture with splendid dramatic performances by the entire cast Gig Young, Ida Lupino, Eleanor Parker, and especially Errol Flynn as a selfish bounder. We don’t mind him being a rogue so long as he’s a heroic one. Warner Bros. lavishly produced ‘Escape Me Never’ . They actually dug canals on the back lot and flooded them for the sequences in Venice! Dear Rushstreet Ralph,
these are good news. I hope Warner bothers to add good bonus material. Especially on the Dark Avenger DVD, since it might shed more light on Errol`s twilight years. Greets from Vi- Town.
