Is this not supposed to be a blog about an actor named Errol Flynn, instead of dogs??

Tante grazie, Gemma. These things should escape me never. What could I have been thinking??

This site being devoted to Errol Flynn, we must follow all rules assiduously!

We certainly don’t want this blog going to the dogs.

Certainly not, Gemma! That agreed upon, here’s another three Errol Flynn champions: Pickfair Errol Flynn, and Errol himself, and Arno his beloved caninian alter ego!

I really don’t understand why you post these unknown dogs here?

Gemma, the connection is slight, I agree, but there is one and Errol loved animals, especially dogs.

Excellent, Gemma, than you probably understand that I’m documenting champion show dogs named after Errol.

I regret that you still don’t understand, Gemma. I will try to explain. The naming of multiple show dogs around the globe – especially notably bred and championship level show dogs – after a celebrity – especially a celebrity who passed away over 50 years ago – is evidence of Errol’s significant international pop icon status. It confirms Errol’s astonishing longevity, ubiquity and distinction, often cited as the three defining characteristics of pop icon status. Moreover, some people, among Flynn fans and beyond, actually find such facts both interesting and fun. It’s very rare for anyone to have such enduring iconic prevalence, particularly beyond their primary field of endeavor. The fact that Errol loved dogs makes it all the better.

Surely, you would believe a horse named Errol Flynn winning the Kentucky Derby would be interesting, fun and appropriate to mention on the blog, right Gemma? Well, this post is in that exact same vein, albeit not as significant, of course.

I hope that sufficiently explains for you the purpose of the post, Gemma.

I have a different opinion but after reading several comments and discussions in the archives and since I am new here, I understand that such criticism is not welcome here.

Nothing wrong with a differing opinion, Gemma. Perhaps, though, especially since you say your new to the blog, you should proceed a little slower and be more thoughtful with your criticism. Rather than starting off by so bluntly criticizing a person’s well-intended post, you might want to be more respectful of their posts.

btw, you’ll be ecstatic to know that I have found many other animals named after Errol, including race horses, that I have chosen not to include in any posts, because they had not reached championship level. Only the best here.
