Is it the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Excellent try, daringthorpe, but wide and to the left. Tampa Bay did originally have an Errol-inspired emblem on their helmets, as depicted below. And this team in question is also sometimes referred to as the Buccaneers!
More clues:
A Football Team
No Helmets
Outside the United States
Nowhere near the State of Florida(!)
Named what they are because of one of Errol’s greatest films.

P. S. The team was originally in Orlando, but not any longer.
P.S. 2 Errol was in the country but not the City before he was famous, long before he helped inspire the team to take a new name.

Tim, I think you give very conflicting clues.
Like:
Near Florida
Nowhere near the State of Florida(!)
No Helmets, that is not possible all players have to ware helmets.
Outside the United States, do you mean the team is from another country all together like England maybe?

You know, Tina, that to keep you from answering these quizzes five minutes after I post them, I have to be very tricky! … The good part of that is that one has to really research and think through Flynn’s amazing history to find the answer. In this case, that would involve recalling his trip to South Africa (but not the Americas) before he was famous, for example.
The cities of Florida, Meadowlands, and Orlando, referred to in this quiz are in Soweto, South Africa! Hence the apparent but not actual conflict.

Think originally in Orlando, but not anywhere near Disneyworld.
Think 75th Anniversary, but not anywhere near the Santa Fe Trail.
Think originally east of Meadowlands, but not anywhere near New Jersey.

Think The Sea Hawk, but not the Seahawks.

What about the East Caroliner Pirates?
They have New Black Uniforms and this is the Helmet.

Goal, daringthorpe, winning goal! Congratulations! That was a really tricky one.
Yes, inspired by The Sea Hawk, the originally-named Orlando Boys Club changed its name to the Orlando Pirates and went on to become a legendary football (soccer) club.

Thanks, Maria. Over the last several months I have incrementally familiarized myself with the Everglades, simultaneously reading here and there about Howard Hill more and more. He was quite big here in South Florida, before his days in Hollywood, and legendary in Alabama, where he remains one of their most immortal athletes and sportsmen. Errol knew a lot of people who excelled at what they did. Hill might well be the greatest of them all. That’s how incredible he was, something Errol unquestionably recognized and greatly admired.
