Original caption: A Couple of Outdoor Guys. Las Vegas, Nev.: Prior to going on his trip to Korea with the Jack Benny entertainment troupe, screen actor Errol Flynn takes his son, Sean on a fishing trip on Lake Mead, near Las Vegas, Nev. Both bagged the limit of large mouth black bass. July 1, 1951 Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Thank you, Gentlemen Tim! I had always wondered about that photo with Sean. The other I believe was taken at a birthday party for Arnella. Well Happy Father’s day to all the fathers in the audience.–A. R.
Thanks, A.R. I didn’t know the story behind the photo either, not until last night. It’s great that more and more Flynnformation comes online everyday, allowing us to get an even fuller and better picture of Errol, Sean, and all the Flynn Family.
Ada Klock writes to me today and helps out with some clarifying ininformation:
Just a slight correction on the Father’s day issue of the blog. The fishing date listed for Flynn with Sean as July 1, 1951 is incorrect. Let me help correct the chronology.
June 22, 1951 – arrives in Las vegas, Nv. with Sean
June 23, ” – fishing on Lake Mead
June 26, ” – back in Hollywood, leaves for Korea tour with Jack Benny and others.
Hope this helps.

It does indeed, Ada, and Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there today. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day. I’m visiting my daughter in NYC and having a wonderful time …
For all the things this man did , the places he voyaged, books he wrote, all the films he acted in, he found time to be a father. I envy that. I wonder if he ever slept! He had to drink as it turned to sugar for this master hummingbird!
If Flynn had given up hard drink I think he might still be with us today! Ha! But then we wouldn’t know him as well as we do … And I think we were meant to know him in just the way we do: as both myth and enigma. A many faceted puzzle to figure out …
