In what number one song did the singer sing about going to Mexico with Errol Flynn?
– Errol was in the news quite a bit for traveling south of the border before (and after) the release of this song
– It hit the top of the charts in the same month Errol was appearing with one of his most beautiful co-stars, with the same first name initial as his.
– It was performed by a very well-known big band.
– It was recorded again, about seven years later, by one of the most popular singers of all time, a major celebrity who knew Errol from having worked with him several years earlier in a Warner Brothers film.
– Errol’s name was replaced in recordings with “You know him” (rather than “Errol Flynn”), but it was a direct and widely recognized reference to Errol.
– In live. professional performances of this song, and amateurversions sang by female fans of Flynn, Errol’s name was sometimes sang as the true lyric. (i.e. “Errol Flynn” rather than “You know him”)

Beats me, Wurlitzer Tim. But here`s to the perennial Huckleberry Flynn, a hymn well worth for a swash-buckler: www.youtube.com…

Shucks, huckleheinz, I’m trying to think of something Errol-relevant that rhymes with “hucklebuck” or “swashbuck”, but no luck without bucking the rules and mucking up everything. So while I contemplate, here’s the Flynnster with one of our mystery singers:

I do LOVE this scene from IT’S A GREAT FEELING. I always like the combo of Doris Day and Jack Carson for some reason. Re: the song, I won’t lie, I have no idea what it is. I’d have to use Google but that would be cheating.

Using Google is cheating, Paula?! Not in my book! I’d never be able to construct these quizzes without using Google. Please feel free to do so!

So what is the answer?
The Hit Parade photo is too small to be able to read, unfortunately…!!!

Before I reveal the answer, TZ, I should tell you that neither of the singers were little girls when they sang this song.
Plus, here’s the famous bandleader who made the song swing and sway it’s way to the top if the charts:

Here it is, with a GREAT vocal by Betty Barclay

I’M A BIG GIRL NOW
Sammy Kaye and His (Swing & Sway) Orchestra
VERSE:
Me and my childhood sweetheart
Have come to the parting of the ways
He still treats me like he did … In our baby days.
I’m a little bit older … And a little bit bolder
Since both of us were three.
I’m a little more padded … Something new has been added
He oughta take one good look at me ….
CHORUS:
I’m a big girl now
I wanna be daring like a big girl now
When daddy tells those certain jokes it isn’t fair
He tells me I’m too young and makes me take the air
But I could tell a couple that would curl his hair
I’m a big girl now.
I’m a big girl now
I wanna be handled like a big girl now
I’m tired of being babied like a kid of three
I’m tired of having chaperones to follow me
I wanna have some secrets in my diary
I’m a big girl now
I’m a big girl now
I wanna be cuddled like a big girl now
I’m through with going to movies with my Uncle Tim
Through with going to picnics with my old Aunt Min
I wanna go to Mexico with … you know him (Errol Flynn)
I’m a big girl now
I’m a big girl now
I wanna be wanted like a big girl now
I’m tired of staying home each evening after dark
Tired of being dynamite without a spark
I wanna learn what fellows do in Central Park
I’m a big girl now
