They certainly have lost their magic. One other thing the author of this article says the rumor of a drunken Clark Gable killing a woman in a car accident is false. I agree. It was not Gable who drove his car drunk down a beach killing a woman and then had Howard and Eddie cover it up for MGM.

The roadside killer was flynntimo director John Huston. A strong character and shadowy figure (see Bogart signaling a secret sign on the wall?) and a symbol for the Hollywood of (G)old. The top of the Babylonian pyramid if you will.
New Hollywood is a mere glimmer of the one time glamour. When you wish upon a star…you forget who you are.
Heinz!!! The John Huston story is new to me. I had heard that the legendary star in question was the beloved Spencer Tracy who killed a woman while drunk driving. Huston also? Oh Father Flanagan where are you and your Oscar? Ralph Schiller
