This interview is fantastic, Karl! Thank you. She is both beautiful and intelligent. I had no idea. (Well I did about her being beautiful!)
Thought she spent more time in Mexico than she did. Didn’t know about her Dutch heritage, nor her very extensive travel as a child,, much of it to evade the Nazi prob the Nazi problems in Europe and the Mideast.
Was her history as the first Bond Girl mentioned? I may have missed that.
Thanks to Karl for this rare find. Linda Christian was a genuine knockout Although she appeared in several previous films, she was finally given star billing as introducing Linda Christian in Johnny Weissmuller’s last film in the series “Tarzan And The Mermaids” (1948). In spite of her stunning beauty and natural talent as an actress, she became a ‘B’ star. Her late daughter with Tyrone Power, Taryn Power had inherited her striking good looks. As far as her prominent mention in Errol Flynn’s autobiography, “My Wicked, Wicked Ways” , the swashbuckler admits she played him like Benny Hill!
And thank you Raconteur Ralph for your oh so author-a-tative (you being a published one and all), not to mention informative background!
And in response to GT’s question, I have listened twice now to the totally CAPTIVATING Ms. Christian’s interview, and if I’m wrong… don’t hold it against me (given her most distracting charms), but~ no mention of the Valerie Mathis role nor her Bond Co-Star Barry Nelson.
There is still another Flynn related tie in to this first James Bond effort… William Lundigan (Dodge City, Seahawk, Santa Fe Trail) served as the host to the program series (Casino Royale being but one of many unrelated episodes) with a most unusual title: Climax!
