Dear Flynnstones,
as this picture shows, Rufus Edward Mackahan could have held his own as Robin Hood. Billed Alan Hale, he instead got to play Little John in film on three occasions and for the respective generations. A whale of hails to Errol’s most trusted side-, back- and frontkick.
Enjoy.

Thanks David! Flynnhale was the original dynamic duo.

Heinz, thanks for reminding us of Errol Flynn’s rowdy co-star and pal, the great character actor Alan Hale. Ironically after over two hundred films, Hale’s last role was once again Little John in the surprisingly well-made “Rogues Of Sherwood Forest” (1950) for Columbia Pictures. Little John save Robin Junior, played by young Columbia star John Derek. Hale died at age 57. His son Alan Hale, Jr. also had a long successful career in films and television.

Sherwood Ralph, Sr. was one of the good guys Errol surrounded himself with. They had good screen and real life chemistry. Here is Hale‘s last hoorrah shortly before his demise: m.youtube.com…
