By the way Heinz, number three son of the famous detective Charlie Chan, in “Too Much, Too Soon” , the Hollywood mansion of John Barrymore is as eerie as a haunted gothic castle. In fact independent producer Aubrey Schenck rented and used the exact same set for Baron Frankenstein’s castle in the under-rated, horror film “Frankenstein 1970” (1958) which starred the one and only Boris Karloff as a descendent of the original doctor. Howard Koch directed this frightening film in widescreen and it was released by Allied Artists. “Frankenstein 1970” is available on DVD to enjoy late night with popcorn.
Well RR, second sibling of Van Helsing, I have to tell you that the woman Frankenstein created, Austrian actress and Playboy playmate, Susan Denberg, has passed on. She died quietly already in 2014 as I found out while researching for an article for a local film magazine. Her neighbor had thought she made all the stories about Frankie Boy up. RIP Dietlinde! m.youtube.com…
Thank-you Heinz for these portraits of Errol Flynn doing magnificent work playing John Barrymore.
Errol Flynn gave one further great performance in the 1958 Twentieth Century Fox adventure film “The Roots Of Heaven” directed in CinemaScope by John Huston.
Thank you Rushstreet Ralph and King Karl, for posting, commentating and advancing the causa Flynn. I always thought of the EF Blog as a strong backbone for any future publication on our man Flynn (2-3 in the pipeline according to the FB Flynn site). TROH was a star studded vehicle with Errol in the driver‘s seat.
Heinz, Errol Flynn looks to be having the time of his life on the set of “The Roots Of Heaven”! Great picture. I was just thirteen years old when I saw the gorgeous Susan Denberg in the Hammer classic “Frankenstein Created Woman” (1967) with the wonderful Peter Cushing as the Baron. She was unforgettable.
Ralph, you are not alone adoring Susan Denberg. If I remember correctly, also Marty, of the Scorsese Clan, liked her and the Hammer movie very much. Poor Susan often got mixed up over here with another Austrian (s)export with the same initials: Sybil Danning.
