The picture shows another noteworthy actress. Eloise Hardt called Cherokee because of her ancestry was the wife of Austrian writer Hans Habe (“Death in Dallas“) and purported mistress of director John Houston. The beautiful daughter of Habe and Hardt ,Marina, a Student of the University of Hawaii was kidnapped when she visited her parents in Hellywood for Christmas. Her mutilated body was found in a ravine days later near Mullholland Drive. This is seen by many as a prelude to the Manson murders.

Wow Thanks Heinz for this fascinating story. Of the other harem girls pictured from “Arabian Nights” only Elysee Knox and Aquanetta who was actually a full-blooded Arapaho American Indian from Cheyenne, Wyoming in spite of misleading studio publicity, actually had any success in Hollywood. Aquanetta starred in several horror films at Universal Pictures opposite Lon Chaney, Jr. and John Carradine. Her best known film is “Tarzan And The Leopard Woman” (1946) with Johnny Weissmuller and Aquanetta in the title roles. After leaving Hollywood her last husband owned a thriving car dealership in Arizona for which she did countless TV commercials! She also contributed generously to many charities including helping fellow Native-Americans. Aquanetta was loved by her family and all who knew her before her death in 2004.

Rushstreet Ralph, it is a pleasure to add to the Flynn legacy a little movie history with you. The prolific biographer Jeffrey Meyers (“Inherited Risk: Errol and Sean Flynn in Hollywood and Vietnam“) describes Eloise Hardt in his book “John Houston: Courage and Art“ as starving pampoose from an Indian Reservate in Oklahoma turning into well educated actress at Columbia Pictures. She appeared steadily in the soap opera “Days of our lives“ and died at an old age in 2017. When her daughter was snatched by somebody after a night out with her boyfriend, Eloise ran after the car shouting: “Take me instead“. This scene got immortalized in Stanley Kubrick‘s last work EWS, when a bare busomed black swan shouts the exact words from a balcony saving Tom Cruise from ritualistic sacrifice.

Heinz, that story is horrifying and her demise was considered the first of many Manson murders. By the way, the State of California just released from prison one of the Charles Manson murderers of Sharon Tate and the coffee heiress Abigail Folger with at least five more victims.
