Jack Cardiff

06 Oct

Hello Errol Fans!
I just saw on TCM the movie – Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff
If you have not seen it try to catch it, it is a very worth while experience to take in the great work this man did.
It is a fantastic movie about his life and of course Errol is in it too. He gives a very nice reportage about Errol. I am sure you all know that Jack Cardiff worked The Master of Ballantrae, Crossed Swords and the most unfortunate William Tell.
I very nice movie indeed!

      Hi Tina,

      I have seen this documentary and it was great. I never knew all that a cameraman contributes creatively – I loved the section where he talks about “The Vikings” and the fog- I guess that is what puts the magic in the movies! You must watch the Black Narcissus –

        Hi Maria;
        It sure is a very great documentary in particular as he was one of very few top Lighting Movie Cameraman in the world and the only one who received an Oscar.
        The many great movies the man made is astonishing and yes I have seen the Black Narcissus. Most superbly photographed and all made in the studio – unbelievable – no location shooting – just fabulous. I also love the way he spoke about Errol.

        William Tell would have been a very great movie with Jack Cardiff on the helm. So very sad of not coming into being!
        Don’t you think so too?

      Sorry you missed the Jack Cardiff documentary on TCM but they might show it again. It really is a great show of his life and worthwhile to see for movie lovers and great movies.
      Errol sure had the best on his team for William Tell.
