I love this picture of Fairbanks and Pickford- one of their few unposed photos, and oh so full of interpretation. When was the date is hard to say … but late in the marriage I would think.
I tend to catch a glimpse of Fairbanks in the occasional Errol photo- of the Wymore period in particular. And ALWAYS wondered if Errol and Doug ever had an extended conversation- I know their paths crossed socially but never read of such a meeting.
From 1909 to 1940, Mary Pickford appeared in hundreds of silent films, mostly period pieces where she was cast as the love interest or heroine. Mary Pickford was also Co-Founder of United Artists with fellow acting legends Charlie Chaplin, husband Douglas Fairbanks, and film director D.W. Griffith. Interesting that “America's Sweetheart” was Canadian!
