Great Scott! I believe I remember hearing that young fellow on guitar singing a cool version of “Paper Doll”!! He sang like an engel in those days. Poor Errol didn’t have much time left, but this photo sure confirms he still had his wonderful sense of humor!

Notice the cigarrette holder in his mouth? I’ve held it in my hand because Deirdre Flynn gave it to my pal Jack Marino!

You know I always loved Red Skelton and his great television series and films. However Errol Flynn’s last appearance anywhere on this show is very sad. I would have to see the show again to properly evaluate it. They are releasing more of the Skelton shows on DVD so keep your fingers crossed. Been away for a few days. Ralph Schiller

Welcome back, Ralph. … Skelton was indeed a great performer, and such a good friend to help out Errol at that difficult time. It couldn’t have been easy for him to do so at that particular time. He was a good man.

Agree! Red Skeleton’s family has so far prevented the distribution to this day, as far as I know, of the show featuring Errol and Woodsie. You will find Freddie’s Beat Shack listed but can’t get it. I, too, saw the show live as a kid – jeesh! I am getting getting long in the tooth!

Good point David. I had heard that the Red Skelton estate held up release of the Flynn show because of a possible lawsuit from Beverly Aadland. Now that Woodsie is gone perhaps it is coming out. The Skelton estate has released a backlog of DVD’s entitled “Red Skelton: The Early Years Part 1 1951-1955”. It contains episodes never before released including an appearance by the great Bela Lugosi. Perhaps Part 2 will have the Flynn show? Ralph

Never heard of a lawsuit from Beverly that would prevent the show being released. Always heard that the estate balked because of Woodsie’s age and Red’s family show legacy. That’s interesting!
