Just shows how uninformed the writer was of the review of Flynn's Rocky Mountain. It states that the location was western Nevada (where there aren't any Rockies, says the piece) when instead it was actually shot outside Gallup, New Mexico. I know. I was there. Plus I have photos and newspaper articles from Gallup. The writer didn't think much of Flynn, thought the ensemble of rascals about him (Guin Williams, Slim Pickens, etc) were fine. Thought Patrice was dull and wooden — which she was. But what the hell: at least get your facts straight!
Happy New Year everyone, Sir Ivanhoe
PS: BTW: Thanks Tom for the chance to read all these great 1950 articles.

    David-
Thanks for the kind words and so glad you are sharing these articles with a wider audience!
As you may remember, I had heard from GD Hamann that he was in the process of doing one for the 40s (not to mention, that he was still adding to his 30s book, which he first began publishing in 1994, and was still adding material to it in the mid 2000s).
And so, I figured I would pick up the trail for the 50s and beyond. And that my source would be the New York Times only- as it was something I had access to. Hamann's sources, in contrast, are from the LA area.
The one STRIKINGLY curious omission for all that these various Times articles covered that were Flynn related … is that for 1978, there is NO OBITUARY for Jack Warner!
Don't quite recall now but believe I wrote them only never got an answer. And when I asked at the Warner Brothers archives in USC as to why this was so- they knew nothing about it either.
So there is another related “Flynn” mystery …
BUT HERE'S TO DAVID, for bringing this ALL to a broader light!
    Best- Karl

David, is there any possibility to fix the link above or are the articles lost forever from the old blog?

They were web pages from the old blog that didn’t transfer. I have this material on a laptop at home, I’m visiting my daughter Erin in New York right now. I don’t seem to have these files in the media library? And I’m having trouble finding them on Google Drive, or another place I might have put them online. But I will repost this when I get bacl home in about ten days. I do have one other place I can check but can’t do that immediately.
