Visiting Errol’s grave

08 Nov

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me the distance from the entrance at forest lawn Glendale to Errol’s grave?

Is it walk able or would transport have to be arranged  like a taxi cab? would appreciate

any information.

Hi daringthorpe. I drove there about a year ago and I’d guess it’s close to a mile from the main entrance to the Errol’s site in the Garden of Everlasting Peace, near the Court of Freedom and the Statue of Washington. … It could be walked by a hearty/hardy soul, but – especially as it’s a substantially uphill walk – I’d recommend visiting by motor vehicle. Here’s a couple of helpful maps:

Also, there is a guard gate. If you are a tourist they will stop you. Better to drive through in a rented car and just wave as you pass by the guard gate. They will figure you are a family member if you do. A cab might be less desirable, as it would be stopped. One fella, from Sweden, back in 2009 when Jack Marino, Tom McNulty, Robert Florczak, and a few others were visiting Flynn’s grave, solved the problem of the guard gate by climbing over a wall on the other side of the cemetery. He had come alone all that way to pay his respects June 20, 2009, on Errol’s birthday. Robert, I think, spotted him hanging back seeing us at Flynn’s grave. Jack invited him to he and Louise’s 100 birthday party for Errol, and said his friends back home would never believe he met us, was invited to our party, met Woodsie’s daughter, and her husband, Ron, actor Paul Picerni from Mara Maru, got to try on a raincoat owned by Flynn and to see other personal items sent by Beverly who was too ill to attend, met Tom McNulty, Trudy McVicker, and actor William Smith. Jack screened Mara Maru, and there was fun, food, and laughs for three days …

Same for me as with Delvan, daringthorpe. So maybe it’s luck of the draw as far as security goes. You might want to call ahead regarding that. … People are dying to get in there, I know that.
