Toofaiti – Femme Fatale from Huahini

23 Nov

It’s Exotic Enough That Errol is from Tasmania, but Making His History Even More Fascinating are His Unique Genealogical Connections and Family History.  Recently Explored was Errol’s Possible Relationship to One of History’s Most Famous Explorers, Roald Amundsen, a Supposed “Cousin” of Errol’s Step-Grandfather Andrew Hammer.   Further Research Indicates What is Perhaps an Even More Unusual Connection – to Toofaiti, of Huahini & Pitcairn Islands – Who May Have Been Errol’s Maternal 4th Great Grandmother.  Toofaiti, was Born on Huahine (“The Rebel Island”), one of the Leeward Society Islands, Midway Between Tahiti and Bora Bora.  She Ultimately Married Edward Young, Who Himself was Exotically Born in 1762 on St. Kitts Island in the West Indies.  “Ned” Young was One of the HMS Bounty Sailors Who Sided with Fletcher Christian Against Captain Bligh.  Ned & Toofaiti’s Son, George, was Born on Pitcairn in 1797, Making Him (If All This is True) Errol’s Maternal 3rd Great Grandfather – Lily Mary Flynn’s Great Grandfather.

As They Say in Huahini, Mauru-Uru!

Here’s the Beautiful Birthplace of Toofaiti:

I knew a young man many years ago that was born on Rarotonga not far from Tahiti. His father was a scientist but Matt wanted to continue his education in “civilization” . Funny how many in civilization want to be in the islands and many on islands want the opposite. I loved his stories from Rarotonga and maybe someday……….

Here’s an intriguing genealogical evidencing that Errol may be related not only to Toofaiti, but also to Vahineatua, from Tahiti – as well as to the Adams Family (No, not the ones from TV or the American Revolution!!)
