I always wondered since Errol met with FDR that he could have gotten him into the Army, Navy etc. so he could be a part of the action. He wanted to and would have been good for morale.

I’ve read on IMDB that he tried to join every branch of service ever but he was 4F due to a heart condition and had a heart attack in 1942. Knowing that IMDB isn’t always accurate, can anyone confirm?

Yes, it’s true and he also had recurrent maleria. He offered to spy for both the USA and Brittain but was politely turned down. There was some thought he may have actually served somehow but this was never confirmed. He certasinly entertained the troops in USO shows and on Armed Services Radio.

Ah okay. Good to know it wasn’t totally off! Poor guy, it seems like he would have probably wanted badly to help more.

Errol Flynn would have loved to fight for America and the Allies against Hitler and Hirohito. His occasionally helping his wacko friend Hermann Erben, and his occasional dislike of some Hollywood moguls (some of whom happened to be Jewish) did not and does not equate to being a supporter of the Third Reich. First and foremost, Flynn was a freedom lover, and fighter. And it was America and the Allies who were fighting for freedom in WWII, certainly not the Fuhrer, who Flynn would have unquestionably regarded an A1 Adolph, hence all his anti-Nazi movies, fund drives, USO tours, and other efforts opposing the Axis.

It’s incredible that anyone would ever believe a despicably deceitful and bitterly envious fraud like Chuckie Lowham.

It was a hard pill to swallow for any man let alone a man like
Errol Flynn not to be able to fight for his adopted country like some of the rest of his peers. So it wouldn’t surprise me that he managed to contribute in some way. I know he did some U.S.O. work and was in Alaska as late as early Dec 1943 there is also a photograph of him in the ww2 museum restaurant in New Orleans along with the other stars who donated their time and efforts to entertaining the troops abroad
