04 May

Jack Marino poses this question: What color, and what type of wood was this long table Errol is sitting on at Mulholland Farm? He has never found a color photo of it. Can anybody help?

Errol Leslie was way ahead of his time! I like double breasted suits and he has a shirt or scarf of some kind no tie. that is my style. I am not a tie man. I have some and I know Errol had many suits with ties. I also notice that he liked to wear slip on shoes like loafers and deck shoes, no laces to tie! Also the style today in many homes of the movie gentry, large windows with sunlight pouring in………

Looks like a type of oak to me with a light finish

Yes I would say it is oak too but with darker finish or at least a Honey finish that has been popular for many years. Great shots by the way, thanks.

What a great thing you’re doing, Jack.

It’s not my branch of knowledge, but I’ll go out on the limb and say it’s likely oak, also. Perhaps the Feds can help. They might be able to look at photos of the wood patterns and give you a scientific opinion:

Also, one of LA’s antique furniture experts could help. Here’s one who might enjoy seeing Errol’s old digs:

Fortunately, you have good color comparison references – from the black bear rug and electric plug, to the cedar(?)ceiling beams, to the white lamp shades and seats, etc.

Can’t wait to see it, Jack!!

Where did all that furniture end up?

Such a great question, Maria. I wonder if Tiger Lil’ sold any of it. What a treasure it would be to have these things. So cool that Jack is doing this.

Per the windows and lamp shades, this may be a contemporaneous view of that (living room) part of the house as viewed from outside.

I believe Pat ended up with a lot of it. I know his writing desk was at her ranch in Port Antonio. So, too, a lot of his silverware. Other items. The Decker Painting.
