Unreleased Nicole Kidman Film ‘Princess Grace’ will air on LIFETIME Channel

21 May

We had spoken here at the blog about the big-budget film production ‘Princess Grace’ starring Nicole Kidman in the title role. It was shot at least two years ago but the producers decided against releasing it to theatres. It is scheduled to be telecast May 25, 2015 on the LIFETIME Channel, with many repeats. The rumors in Hollywood were that this extremely lavish film was a beautiful-looking bore. Now we may jusge for ourselves! See you at the movies Ralph Schiller

I stand corrected! The correct title is ‘Grace Of Monaco’!

I saw it last year, RR, when it was released here Europe. I have to admit it was neither meat nor fish, as our saying goes. The royal family of Monaco snubbed the grand opening at the Cannes festival, because they feared what de facto was a marriage of convenience would be shown as such. I recently read that Onassis (the big stakeholder of the Monte Carlo Casino ) brokered the deal suggesting 4 blondes for a wive to Prince Rainier. They were Kim Novak, Deborah Kerr, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. Marilyn struck out because of her previous marriages, and later congratulated Grace that she had managed to escape that Hollwood hamsterwheel becoming a princess. Ranier and Kelly clicked and who is to judge if they really weren`t that happy couple later as tabloids reported. The film is a very tame review of these events. No need for fearing any revelations whatsoever. The scenery of course is a site to see, Mrs Kidman`s skin is so shiny as if it had never seen the Aussie sun, but Tim Roth is terribly miscast as stocky souveraign. A once fabulous rogue starring opposite Liam Neeson in that fine contemporary swashbuckler ROB ROY, is having a tough time miming a love sick prince, while steadfastly fending off Charles DeGaulle`s quest to take over the Principality. All in all a film like a glossy Magazine.

Thanks for the review Heinz which makes it sound interesting. Both Monroe and Kim Novak would have been disasters as Princess’ of Monaco. Deborah Kerr certainly had by far the most grace, poise, and intelligence to be Princess of the four. Grace Kelly was a stunning-looking blonde actress who had a reputation with sleeping with her leading men includind Ray Milland, Gary Cooper, William Holden, Stewart Granger, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. I can believe that Ranier was smitten with her and at least in the initial years it was a happy marriage. I’ll never forget Prince Ranier’s overwhelming grief and remorse at her funeral. www.theerrolflynnblog.com…

Grace and Rainier were a good match in the end. At the beginning though Kelly`s wealthy father was not so pleased. He was mocking the fact that he had to pay a two million Dollars entrance fee into an operetto state (rumor has it that Grace`s Ma was convinced that her daugther would end up princess in Morocco) and that his high-ness was anything but…

Where is the Errol Flynn connection in this posting? It’s quite a bit off topic :-)

      O Dave, behave!
Don`t rush Ralph into jumpy references. The one connection plain to see is, that Errol`s marriage in Monaco may have served as blueprint for Prince Rainier`s.

My apologies to David about the thin broth. In fact the entire film ‘Grace Of Monaco’ was watered down thin, broth. This was nothing more than a vanity production for the star Nicole Kidman who gave a brittle performance in the title role and was deliberately photographed out of focus in every scene. Sounds like very unappetizing soup. What a disGrace.

I guess this means that Nicole is now out of the running for the role of Princess Olivia.

Clever photo Tim but I’ll take Olivia de Havilland anyday! Her luminous eyes were always enchanting. Time has not dimmed Olivia De Havilland’s great beauty or her greatness as a screen actress. Olivia never used gauze on any of her films! Ralph Schiller
