Dear fellow Flynn fans,

ever since learning that Errol purchased a Mercedes Benz while filming in Italy of 1953

(see: www.theerrolflynnblog.com…),

I wondered where this custom made car had ended up.

Now we know, in the very capable hands of New York Yankee Reggie Jackson!

From the swashbuckler on the brinks to the straw that stirred the drinks, so to speak.

In 2006 it was resold for $ 264.000.- at an auction in Palm Springs.

I am sure it was the apple of Will Tell`s eye.

    Hi Heinz;
    What a beautiful car!
    Amazing that the car was still around in 2006, a sure plus or thumbs up for Mercedes.
    If it wouldn’t have been for this scoundrel Bruce Cabot, Errol may not have lost the car just then.
    It just is so sad that the Wilhelm Tell movie did not come about it maybe could have been a new lease on life for him.

    So good to hear Reggie got the Benz. And that it wasn’t burned to a crisp at his famous bar-b-que:

    P.S. Though Reggie’s not my favorite Yankee, I once did have the Jacksonian honor to chant the legendary “Reggie, Reggie, Reggie” chant on the following music video (@ about 1:11):

    Gary perchased the same Mercedes modell as Errol in 1953.
