    Sounds like it would have been a very pretty looking picture (in Technicolor) but not too adventurous. I’m guessing they were influenced by Robin Hood and wanted another color film of Errol in the forest. (Whatever happened to “Sir Robin of Locksley”?) By the way, I’m struck by the resemblance of that drawing of John James Audubon to Kirk Douglas.

      Well, Kirk was always chasing birds, but, even so, I just can’t see him Singing in the Wilderness like Audubon, especially after hanging out with Mrs. Flynn and chopping down all those Big Trees:
