, zacal. Yet another genre that Flynn excelled at! It was a new term to me, but I just checked the net now and see that it has been used several times over the years. …
Since the “Spaghetti Swashbuckler” term has been used, and since Errol likely frequented Alfredo’s during his Hollywood in the Tiber heyday (evidently finding fettucini superior to spaghetti), we could coin a new name for his Cinecitta contributions to cinematic history. Perhaps this phase of Il Maestro Errol’s career could be referred to as the “Fettucini Films of Errol Flynn”.

Ahoy David-
Good sleuthing on Shangheinz’s part in finding the JFK /Alfredo photo!
I’d like to share some particulars on this photo posted at the blog today. This is the REAL person Alfredo di Lelio who invented the famed pasta. Further, this photo is labeled with the following (same) information that I found on 2 different internet sources:
“John F. Kennedy getting served fettuccine by Alfredo Di Lelio at the restaurant Alfredo in Rome, 1963”.
There was something about this not quite al dente, and further checking revealed he following: I submit that the photo is of then SENATOR Kennedy and that the reported year is off by a DECADE: it should read 1953. Also di Lelio passed in 1959 so could not have been a part of ANY photograph taken in 1963.

PS This stirs an old memory: I remember hearing the story, from someone who would know, that supposedly Kennedy would not give autographs and… had the reputation for only paying his dining bills by check… the idea being his checks wouldn’t be cashed for want of the autograph and… I heard this in connection with a visit to Alfredo’s in NYC (open in 1977) and in viewing a photo of JFK with Alfredo, I believe… this same photo.
