This is a fascinating occurrence that appeared in Tasmania May 2015. I also have found reference to it occurring in San Diego -I am sure there are other areas as well. Just magical!

Magnificent, Maria. Thank you. … I wonder if Errol ever saw any such display. Professor Flynn may have seen or heard of the bioluminescent phenonema, another one of which occurred in March, up where he used to live/work near Jervis Bay, as depicted in the National Geographic photo below:
