Hi. I was happy that it worked! I believe that this was at the Oscars. Not sure of the year. 1939 maybe? It is pretty dreary up here today so I spent some time reading about Jock Whitney. What a life! I believe that he owned the rights to Gone With The Wind at some point. I had also thought that my group photo above with Harry Hopkins was taken in California but it turns out it was in WASHINGTON D.C.

I believe the photo was taken at the opening of a new supper club in the Washington, D.C. area. Yes, that is Sec. of Commerce Harry Hopkins with Errol and Lily. I do not have an identity on the other lady present. You mentioned Liz…do you have a full name?…or the name of the club? By the way it was on Jan. 28, 1939, which was the day before Errol and Lili visited the White House. Hope this Helps. Enjoy.

Thanks Ada – my photo of Olivia at the 1939 Oscars disappeared and that is the photo I was describing. I have had a bit of trouble inserting the photos so I will try again. The Lady beside Errol is Liz Whitney.

Lili must have been livid when Life cropped her out, and maybe impliedly linking LIz & Errol on some level.

(couldn’t get bitly to work on this link)

Tim, I used this code to make a text link:

I’ve also found a new plugin that automatically shortens and activates long URLS on publication. Just enter your long or short URL and it will show up shortened once you publish your comment or post.

Thanks, Tim! I check for useful plugins from time to time and hope they will be compatible with all the plugins presently running. I’d like more functionality in the comment window but can’t find anything so far that will actually work – so we make a little progress when we can!
