    This was an absolutely FASCINATING book to me!
    But let one who REALLY knows speak. As I don't think she would mind, I'd like to quote Trudy Mc Vicker in a recent letter, who has read and/or participated in more than a few Flynn books herself:
    “I am almost finished with Debra Fasano's wonderful little book and I will be sorry when I am because I enjoy it so much! It makes the people in the stories come so vividly alive and their stories are so compelling – almost Dickensian… it occurred to me: of course they would be: Dickens and those “immigrants” were contemporaries and many of his best stories were about hard lives such as theirs!
    I admire her careful research and I love the way she organized the book. She packs so much detail into each story and adds all these bonus tidbits and yet the narration flows so smoothly. I really like it that she puts her “Footnotes” so conveniently at the end of each story which allows her to do away with all those irritating little numbers usually scattered amongst the text of a well-researched book.
    The story of these people is far more fascinating and convincing than the story of Midshipman Young's sword could ever be! More romantic and illuminating as well! It fills in a wonderfully rich background to complement Flynn's complex and contradictory character and personality.
    Hands down – of all the Flynn books out there this is definitely one of my favorites!”

    PS Back in February, it was SUPER sleuth Kathleen who first steered us towards this link, which I then acted on. And along the way, also confirmed Marelle's (Lily Mary) official death date of 1/1/67 and that her age was 78, and not 77 as her death certificate claimed.

    Hi Karl. I think at the time I first found out about this book it wasn't completed. Now, I too, have it! It arrived yesterday and I can't wait to start reading it. Thanks for the extra nudge your posting gave me.
