Haunts Below the Border – Live from the Day of the Dead

03 Nov

Some of Errol’s Old Mexican haunts, During the Day of the Dead, Dia de Muertos. He would have loved it! Tens of thousands of wonderfully costumed children during the day; even more adults during the evening, including thousands of beautiful and beautifully costumed senoritas.

Scenes of Caesar’s (where the salad was invented, and is still the best) Chiki Jai’s (an Ava Gardner and bullfighters’ favorite), Jai Lai, Revolution Boulevard, Zona Norte. Barrymore haunts, Aloha Club and The Long Bar, are recently closed, but still standing, as are many of the legendary Hollywood haunts. Tragically, most of Caliente is gone.

Starting with the legendary Hotel Caesar:

      Si, Muy Fabuloso, Senor Davido!

It’s very importante for us Fleen Fans to keep up on our Espanol. Senor Errol is an international and cross-cultural phenomena, as the article below confirms.

My first words in Spanish were: Dos cervezas, por favor! I have since learned a lot more over the decades living in Spain. I could help out translating from English into Spanish. Payment can be done in kind like a good bottle of vintage red!

Splendido bandido! Gentlemex Tim following Flynns footsteps. The foto below shows our Hollywood hero with a whole enchilada of other celebs flying south of the border for the film premiere of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” in Mexico City.

Si, muchachoheinz, Emerson fine ingredients in that Errolian enchilada, smothered in Hedda cheese, and topped off by Senor Blood himself, headed out to help out the Rojo Cruz. Too bad Lupe V. didn’t go south of the border with Errol on this surjourn. In addition to a little Gringo Doodle Dandee, she could have shown him the Mexican Grand Tetons while he was down there. Whoopee with Lupe! … My how times have changed. Can you imagine today raising relief funds in Mexico with a showing of Yankee Doodle Dandee!?! Aye Carumba!
