    Errol’s boat or not, the Black Pearl was reportedly used in the filming of Popeye. The movie’s original set in Malta is a popular tourist attraction in Malta known as “Popeye Village”. Here’s Popeye Flynn and Bluto Rathbone doing an Errolean duel in Popeye “Sweethaven” Village. The Black Pearl was apparently nearby.

      I agree with you, T.Z. I guess there was some possibility of Errol owning or partially owning this during his days in the Med, but more compelling evidence is needed. Even the restaurant’s own promotion of the “legend” seems weak and dubious. For starters, Errol seemed to like fast sailing ships, not slower ships, like this appears to be. Secondly, there appears to be absolutely no documentary or photographic evidence tying Errol to the boat. … If there is, someone should speak up! It would be very cool to confirm another ship in Errol’s fleet!

    The boat sure had a curse about her. If she belonged to Errol at one time, he was wearing her like an Albatros around his neck. We all should take a closer look at “Cap Fabian” if we can spot her in there somewhere.

      Sorry, fabianheinz, I endured the entire of “The Adventures of Captain Fabian” and did not see any sign of the ship, unless that’s it way yonder in the first 1:15 of the video linked below. The real action begins at 1:15, where a few of the (very musically talented) cast do very much look like leftovers from Micheline Prelle’s equally charming work the year before in “American Guerrilla in the Philippines”.

      Very far in the distance you may be able to see Errol waterskiing to work.

      That may be the Black Pearl behind Errol in the poster below. It’s hard to say for certain because Flynn was so buffed up with muscles during filming, or at least during his posing for the portrait on the poster, that he obscures and takes focus off much of the background scenery, even the fact that he’s either drowning or frolicking in what’s apparently supposed to be the waters of the Old Mississippi River or Delta. Looks like Micheline had been working out, too – but not half as much as Monsieur Errol.

    Well I guess they couldn’t use Johnny Depp because of the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean” and possible lawsuits
    So they picked up on Errol as a publicity draw.
    I Love the story of this ship and it would make for a very good book. In the photo above I find the sheets hung very much like a junk rig without the rigs, LOL. Interesting for a three master.
