      Regardless of his having reportedly dated G.V., Errol more likely had his eyes, mind and heart, on one of the other sensational socialites in that wedding party. Perhaps even the divine Miss D.M.

    Yes, it’s known that Paul misspelled Mrs. Vanderbilt. Whether deliberately or mistakenly I do not know, nor do I believe he has publicly declared.

    The song was likely inspired by Mrs. Gloria Vanderbilt, Gloria’s mother, notorious on both sides of the Atlantic, most particularly in Great Britain and the States. – for her wild ways, reckless spending (including from Gloria’s trust fund), and all-round extremely poor parenting of Gloria. Hence the flapper-era theme of the video.

    Another Miss Texas Gal post. How lucky can one thread get.

    I didn’t realize you were an expert on Paul McCartney’s songwriting, too, Texas Gal. Thank you for letting us all know. We had no other way of knowing.

    Other authoritiess on Sir Paul’s songwriting, not in your league of course, believe his lyrics have very often been inspired by real and specific people, places, incidents, and feelings. As with most all Beatles music, such experts would suggest that one needs to know the history and code behind his songs and lyrics, before dismissing them as not based on anything. Some less informed and authoritative experts recognize – I mean erroneously believe – that McCartney’s use of the name Vandebilt was specifically inspired by the (in)famous Vanderbilt family, using them as an allusionary device perhaps to refer to selfishly abusive capitalistic elites, just as his use of Mrs. Washington would perhaps refer to abusive political elites.

    Gloria’s mother, “Mrs. Vanderbilt” was a perfect exemplication of the abusive filthy rich high society class that gave capitalism such a bad reputation in her day, with the “Ho Heh Ho” hook also likely being no coincidence either.

    It would be poor manners indeed not to mention Cousin Amy Vanderbilt who may also have inspired the song, being that it seems so hypocritical for Vanderbilts to instruct others how to behave. Likewise, we’d be remiss (or should I say remrs.) to disregard fancy pants George Washington Vanderbilt, also depicted below. Sir Paul was certainly familiar with his famous estate, as was Hannibal Lector. In any case, the use of Vandebilt (possibly misspelled for legal reasons, but sonically sang correctly, as Van-der-bilt) is certainly inspired by the famous and quite real Vanderbilts.

    Don’t forget to check your Mrs. Vanderbilt’s Book of Etiquette before replying, Ms. Texas Gal.
