Today and tomorrow will be the Flynn place to be, Flynncluding at the Coronado Library, which is hosting some of the many great events at the Coronado Island Film Festival.
As did Errol himself, numerous Flynn Crowd celebrities used to visit Coronado. One notable Flynnsider who lived on the island wrote the following tribute to the Coronado Library. Who was she or he?

Just a wild guess Marilyn Monroe, or Jack Lemmon, or Tony Curtis. My first inclination is Marilyn.
Most likely all wrong. Maybe a famous writer. But…..????
By the way, your image of a hotel or whatever looking invoice is totally unreadable. One can’t make out what it is. Maybe you could post a better picture?

Yes, Tina, this is definitely a tough one. Here are some clues:
This man or woman shared a particular talent with Errol. They were both superb at it.
This person was a noted advocate for civil rights.
He or she was born in New York, but died in California, thirty years ago exactly (January 17, 1986).

p.s. haven’t been able yet to get a better photo of that Dive Bomber (North Island Navy Air Base) call sheet. Will try, but it’s in a glass case and I’m not sure how much better I can do on my cell. …. I am going to soon post a couple of others you’ll love!

With so few people (even on Coronado) knowing that Earl Conrad lived on the Island, and relatively few knowing his history involving civil rights, this was an extremely difficult quiz. I thought the timing was good, though, because of Rory & Sean’s show today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Tim can you tell some details of the festivities with Rory and Sean? Did they gave speeches? What was the program? Did they show the “Dive Bomber” movie? That would be great!

Yes, Tina, my pleasure. Following a visit with Richard Dreyfuss and his wife, Rory & Sean were featured VIP Guests at a number of CIFF events, including at a major Saturday Night banquet at the famous Hotel Del Coronado Crown Room.
On Sunday, they attended Chris Lemon’s “ATwist of Lemon”. Leonard Maltin as there, too, and proved to be a very nice person. Chris Lemmon put on an absolutely sensational tribute to his Dad. Chris is a fine man also, and very, very talented.
Rory was not to be outdone, however. Her must-see, one-hour tribute is magnificent, highlighted by her extremely fun, informative and insightful narration, coupled with her stunning array of photos (and film clips), many of which I’ve never seen before, nor even knew existed.
Immediately following Rory’s show, Sean introduced Dive Bomber, preceded by his brief talk about Errol’s influence on his life and career, and how proud he is to be his grandson. Sean is a terrific person, son and grandson.
Dive Bomber is fantastic on a big screen, for me a dramatically more impressive movie than on small screen.
Last but not least was Rory & Sean’s Meet & Greet, at which they sold out signed copies of The Baron of Mulholland.
