After watching this I can see why Errol Flynn and Ida Lupino
got on so well. They had a lot in common and their “bucking the system attitudes” would’ve been the subject of many a conversation. Enjoyed the post.

Rory Flynn and Deirdre Flynn visiting Flynn’s grave at Forrest Lawn. Constance Lupino is buried near Errol’s grave. Ida’s ashes were spread over her mother’s grave after she passed away.

What an astonishing person and career. Thanks for that video, David. And thanks for that incredible photo of Rory, Ida, and Deirdre at the Flynn/Lupino side-by-side gravesites. Ida looks so happy to be with Rory and Deirdre. I think she loved and treasured Errol very much.

Yes, you notice Ida has her arms around both Rory and Deirdre. And she smiles from deep within. She was so brilliant. I am a Richard Boone fan, and Ida directed several Have Gun Will Travel shows. I have the series on DVD. You can always guess which episodes she directed because they are so well done …

this is cool – seen this before – more enjoyable the second time around…

I have always bene a big-big fan of Ida Lupino, from the first time I seen her in the 1940 movie, “They Drive by Night” – excellent performance as no mater the role. she no doubt gives Stanwyck and Davis a run for the money in the bad ass, no taking crap role – always thought she was under appreciated as an actress, for she certainly deserved to be up there in the top 5 best female actress.

If anyone wants a very good Biography read of Ida, get the book authored by William Donati, published 1996; Ida Lupino A Biography. I believe you will enjoy it very much, I know I certainly did.
The very first words written (Prologue) – It starts with the defending Errol Flynn from its then recent trash release unauthorized biography of; “Errol Flynn: The Untold Story” by Charles Higham.

She states while on the phone with Donati; “Mr. Donati, I received your letter” – “This is Ida Lupino.” (then launch into attack)
“I can assure you, she said, “that he was never a Nazi” We both hated Nazis! As for Errol being a homosexual—well, I have nothing against those gentlemen, but nothing is further from the truth.”……

How cool is that, then mention from the start our man Flynn!
thought id mention the book for anyone who hasn’t read it… Auf Wiedersehen

I’ve not read this book, so a good read awaits me! Love it she starts out defending Errol as she clearly knew him well and for a long time ..

Sort of OT but t’s such a coincidence that I ran across this post and another about Ida Lupino in quick succession that I had to share the other…no mention of Errol Flynn but a good read from “Czar of Noir” Eddie Muller: www.fandor.com…
