Have any other Flynn bloggers come across the 'Friends of Flynn' fanzine? I picked up a handful of issues a few years ago and they were very good, with some pretty rare and unique Flynn content.
best wishes,
Brian.

Sounds interesting, Brian. Do you know when and where and by whom they were published? Would you post some of them on the blog mayb?

Hi Inga,
I have just realised that there were two similarly titled Flynn fanzines. The ones I was referring to were the 'Friends of Errol Flynn' fanzines that were done by an English guy named Derek Duberry, they really are rather good. It's just a real shame that Derek didn't continue these, I think I have about 5-6 of them. Not quite sure how many were at actually made but the content is well worth reading. If I get the chance I may put a sample up here on the blog.
What I would be interested in knowing is how many were actually made.
I also have some issues of a fanzine titled 'The Sword in the Stone', which was another one dedicated to Flynn – the content is really quite limited but they are still quite nice collectors pieces.
Just out of interest the other similarly titled fanzine was 'Friends of Flynn' which I think was done by a guy from Sweden. I have a couple of those too and while the text is unreadable for me the photographs within are very, very good.
best wishes,
Brian.

Hello Aresia,
I hope you don't mind me asking you as you live in Europe also, Germany perhaps? Because if you do we could converse in German too, wouldn't that be a laugh? If we write like that on the blog the other authors will be wondering what the hell we are writing. And of course, we will charge them heavily(+tax) for each word for the translation. All proceeds go to local animal charity, I insist. Apart from that, Germany is linked to Errol, he was there twice!. Once to pick up a brand new Merc at Stuttgart and for a Film Festival in Berlin. He never had the chance to visit Holland, although he stated in “Don Juan” (wasn't he just brilliant there?) to Queen Margaret that he visited that great nation “briefly”. And, bless his cotton socks, he also served in the Dutch navy for 6 years, as quoted in “Captain Blood” in the beginning of that film.
I know for a fact I was “Made in Germany” in Monschau, (nice location too!) but born in Holland. I am beginning to wonder if he met my mother after all!! Some people do state I look like him, but I would not second that, for the pencil line moustache, yes! Yes indeed, it is all in the genes.
I know I am rattling on a bit, but it is all for the cause of this graceful website. I just get carried away a bit, no harm in that, is there?
Normally my e-mails to my contacts are little novels, far too long, (David will vouch for that)because I have so much to say, perhaps too much. But then there is a writer in all of us, some are smarter or should I say more talented than others. We all have a story to tell, right?? And those stories have to come out sooner rather than later.
Got to go now, must have my glass of vintage red wine.

Yes, I am from Germany. Errol has been to Germany more than twice, apart from Stuttgart and Berlin he also went to Frankfurt and to Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I am still working on that subject, have published some articles on the blog, which you can find when you search the archives, or, if you are interested, the German version of one of them is on my website (just go to the section “Errol Flynn in Europe” where you find something about the Berlinale).

When were these published, in recent times, or at the height of Errol's popularity? Just curious….. :~)

Hi Brenda,
The issues I have run from 1994 through to 1996. I am a little curious to find out if there are more.
best wishes,
Brian.
