Thanks for posting that – Front Page Challenge was a great show. The book written about the show contains a few words about Errol’s visit . If memory serves he flirted with the make up lady -that would be something to tell the grand-kids! Oh Errol!

Sometimes methinks our jumpin jiminy Jacaru was very naive for a man of the world. An idealist that really didn’t see the Castro agenda and Cuba traded one dictator for another. Which one one was worse, well each in their own way…..I think Errol.was singed a little from his political involvements in the idealist pursuits. I wonder if he saw that at the end…

I believe Errol did speak publically about the executions that followed Castro’s takeover. He, like millions of others in the USA, felt Castro was a hero fighting against the evil regime of Batista. Flynn had no idea Castro would turn out to be the figure we know today. Nobody back then did until he cracked down on everybody. By then, Errol had seen the handwriting on the wall. Seen praising Castro, he is not doing something many others didn’t do at the time.

David that is correct. In 1959 President Eisenhower almost immediately recognized Castro’s regime as the government of Cuba. However in January 1961 only days before the inauguration of John F. Kennedy, President Eisenhower severed all diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba. Ralph Schiller

Everyone love the rebel at first but like he says. “you cant contain all the wild people” and that is true.
