New video footage from February of this year suggests that the “extinct” Tasmanian Tiger is still alive! Here’s a link to the story and (short) video.

    P.S. Word is there’s a chance that beginning clip is the very one Errol had as a pet in Hobart.

    P.S. 2 When I was a kid in Brooklyn, it was said there were some still left in Brooklyn, where Tasmanian Tigers were allegedly on display in Coney Island in the first half of the century. (In Brooklyn, you never knew – they could have been real, or they could have been painted mutts from another faraway exotic location, like The Bronx.)

    “The Tiger is still alive in various locations known to a few. Some of us are witness to this. Government refuse to confirm in efforts to avoid safety fears over lout shooting and media rewards etc. Perhaps it may be wise to leave them alone although it would have been good to have a captive colony to bring them back from the brink.”

        Fascinating, Maria. Thank you. Wouldn’t it be great if they found one! If not, they may have to concede Errol was the last living Tasmanian Tiger.

        btw, I believe I read once that one of the very last may have been Errol’s childhood pet, which Professor Flynn ultimately donated to the Hobart Zoo.

          Of course, per the superb documentary linked below (with tremendous film of Tasmania and its geological/paleontological history) there’s the possibility they could return!
