ANOTHER ARE YOU BEING SERVED REFERENCE

08 Aug

Came across still another Errol reference on the British sitcom ARE YOU BEING SERVED–they are trying to drum up business at the department store and comment that a famous golfer was signing golf balls in the sports section.  They wonder who what famous person would be appropriate to autograph trousers and Captain Peacock mentions, “The only name that comes to mind is Errol Flynn!”

I have watched that episode and I didn't know what to think when the character of Capt. Peacock said that.

This joke is so very typical of British humor and I am laughing my belly full!
When I came to England to live – at first I couldn't for the world of me understand their humor. I said “What's funny about that?” Needless to say it took awhile before the button opened and I clued in. Once understood, I have never stopped laughing since. British humor is the funniest in the world! One thing what makes them so funny, like this one, which by the way is hilarious – is the round about way to connections they make in their jokes, which cracks you up!

But it's not a very kind saying, or is it me not understanding British humour?

I know that I do understand this it is because their humor is different from ours.
