    Tim; I can’t follow all your clues but that is clearly Warner Brothers star Dennis Morgan who appeared in two films with Errol Flynn ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ (1944) and “It’s A Great Feeling” (1949). Sadly Dennis Morgan, also a popular recording artists, sang “Home Is The Sailor” at Errol Flynn’s funeral service. thanks Ralph Schiller

    Would just like to share that I once heard Lincoln Hurst say that this was his FAVORITE Flynn photograph. From 1942 and a very good time in his life. From the description of this photo:

    “Seen at the airport before leaving for Mexico where they participated in a two day Mexican Red Cross drive and the Mexican premiere of YANKEE DOODLE DANDY…”

    As always, answers happen fast around these parts!

    Yes, Ralph, Dennis Morgan – a great man and talent, who sang farewell at Forest Lawn to his good friend Errol. Sadly, his best friend and likewise wonderful talent Jack Carson also died tragically young, at age 52 from cancer, which led Dennis to devote himself to helping others with cancer.

    Speaking of charity, the great photo of Errol and Dennis above was taken in connection to a Red Cross event in Mexico City, which featured Warner Brothers’ Yankee Doodle Dandee. Errol & Dennis flew down with Hedda Hoppa, Faye Emerson, journalists Bill Brogdon, Hub Keavy, W.R.
    Wilkinson, and actors Juanita Stark, Nancy Coleman, and Errol’s alleged “current love” Julie Bishop.

    Alas, Julie’s face is obscured by both a turban and turn of the head… and his BEAUTIFUL co-star in Northern Pursuit certainly deserves more… afterall…

    Who can forget this memorable final exchange:

    When asked if she is the only girl he “ever really loved” by Julie Bishop (Laura McBain) at their long delayed wedding, Flynn replies: “But of course you are darling… What am I saying?”

    (The last line being delivered looking straight at the camera.)

            Best looking Bishop I’ve ever seen, Karl. No bout adoubt it. Also very impressive was that she was in Captain Blood, too – the one from 1924!

            What a great pic! deserved much more; so often not in someone’s comments when starlets of the past are brought up, and that’s a shame. For those that remember the films as Ralf (thank you) mentions in that wonderful mini bio of hers, would certainly see that not only was she a real beauty, but also a fine actress.

    I will always be forever grateful to Karl for posting that swimsuit photo of Julie Bishop in 1946!

    Bishop actually first became a star under her real name Jacqueline Wells. She co-starred with W.C. Fields in “Tillie And Gus” (1933), and was the leading lady for Buster Crabbe in “Tarzan The Fearless” (1933). In 1935 Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy completed with Thelma Todd “The Bohemian Girl’ for Hal Roach/MGM. After Todd’s 1935 murder, producer Hal Roach re-shot the film with Jacqueline Wells before its 1936 release where she did wonderful work. She was outstanding playing opposite both Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff in ‘The Black Cat” (1934) at Universal. Under contract to Columbia, Wells did a couple of ‘B’ films with Rita Hayworth before co-starring with Glenn Ford in “My Son Is Guilty” (1939). She starred opposite Roy Rogers and Gene Autry in a pair of popular Republic studio westerns. She later changed her name to Julie Bishop and finally moved up to ‘A’ films co-starring with Humphrey Bogart in “Action In The North Atlantic” (1943), John Wayne in “The sands Of Iwo Jima” (1949) and “The High And The Mighty” (1954), and Robert Taylor in “Westward The Women” (1951). She retired from films after co-starring with Alan Ladd in “The Big Land” (1957). Julie Bishop was later happily married to General Clarence Shoup for many years. Their daughter is gorgeous screen star Pamela Susan Shoop. Later photos of Julie Bishop prove that her physical beauty never faded. Ralph Schiller
