    The value of $1000 in 1947 is worth today approximately $12.000. That was her monthly alimony!

      Between Tiger Lil & Edwin Loeb, Errol never had a chance as far as paying Dynamita’s alimony. Lili was merciless, and Loeb was arguably the most powerful lawyer in Hollywood.

      Nevertheless, Errol ultimately triumphed over both of them. No one’s holding any film festivals for Lili, and few fondly remember or care a whit about Edwin Loeb. Moreover, Errol went on to happier relationships, three more children, and “sailing the seven seas”, while Lili did little or nothing after losing Errol.

        Oh, you are so right and I know all about good old Lili and Edwin Loeb, blood suckers!
        I just wanted to show the value which was enormous in those days and would be for today too.
        Actually her child support was $1500 a month, so the $1000 cheque was not the full amount.
        If she wouldn’t have received so much money from Errol she couldn’t have given that amount to Sean’s school – she left an estate of $10.3 million, which she bequeathed to the Lawrenceville school, Sean’s alma mater.Wow!
        Nice isn’t it!.

          Tina, that $10.3 million (her entire estate) that she left Sean’s school does not come across to me as her doing something nice. It comes across as the act of an insane woman obsessed with the memory of the terrible loss of her son. I just can’t associate that woman with the idea that she did an act of kindness. I can associate her with being obsessed with her lost son, and I think that is more likely the reason she left the school all that money. There just wasn’t very much nice about her.

            In the context of those days I have revised my feelings about Lily. I do not blame her obsessing over the fate of her child which she never resolved. That may soon be resolved through the tenacious work of Dave Hope who believes he has located Sean and Dana Stone. Exhuming their remains is another matter involving the country they were found in, getting permissions, etc. She must have suffered terribly the remaining days of her life over this and I have great sympathy for her.

              Yes, Lily suffered greatly over the loss of her son, who was killed on a whim by some enemy soldier who didn’t even know him.

              But Lily made a deliberate decision to destroy the life of a man who she knew as a feeling human being, and she spent 20 years actively doing it. She watched him suffer a long slow death over those 20 years as she tortured him, and humiliated him.

              Was she justified because he wasn’t as faithful and as loving to her as she wanted him to be?

              She knew he was a “rake” when she first met him, that was obvious. But to her he was arm candy, and a trophy for an older woman to show off.

              She drove him away with a vengeance at even the tiniest perceived slight. Once when their anniversary had slipped his mind, she was angry. So, at the anniversary party she tried to bash his brains in with a champagne bottle. Things like that make it hard for a man to look lovingly upon a woman.

              Yes, it’s unthinkable for a mother to lose her son.

              But it’s also incomprehensible to me how a woman can be so sadistic that she spends 20 years torturing a man, to the point that he’s reduce to poverty and shame. She had no sympathy for Errol when she made his life a living hell, and she gets no sympathy from me.
