We know that Flynn and Niv were both there, both dressed as the lowest of circus workers, the poor souls on the “shovel brigade” tasked with cleaning up after the circus elephant, i.e. W.R. Perhaps, however, Errol had an alternate outfit.
Using your superb technical skills, can you see if this mystery man’s left ear matches Errol’s?

Well, heistheinz, I think you correctly pegged that figure and walk as being very much like Flynn. For me, it’s only the ear that appears off. Personally, I don’t see Nivin stridin’ with that particular brand of athletic aplomb or swagger.
Perhaps it is Flynn, and if so, he’s likely to be running after and/or from some PYT. Perhaps even M.D.’s “neice”, Patricia, who had a San Simeon-sized crush of Errol. Indeed, they’re even writing new musicals about her lust for EF.
According to my Hearst Caste tour guide two or so years ago, Errol was the only guest ever known to violate every one of Hearst House rules. Dorothy Parker apparently did an outstanding job of getting kicked out of the Castle, too.

The operetta should feature a disguised Davis as Redbeard as well as Flynn friend and Gentleman Jim co-star John Loder (aka Mr. Hedy Lamarr), who according to his own indiscretion went the whole nine yards with Marion Davies on the rugs of San Simeon. Could it be that Errol took the fall for it, Castleman Tim?

How many things are wrong with that sentence?
1, I never picked up on Flynn being narcissistic. Concerned about his appearance yes, but not narcissistic at all. 2, And if he ever wanted to “squeeze” Bette Davis it was with his fingers around her neck.
Ok, so this is obviously a farce. But it puts forth an image of Flynn that has not the slightest basis in fact, and could add to the many misconceptions that are out there about him.
On the plus side, that picture of Kim Long as Bette Davis is a sure cure for the public embarrassment a fellow might get during his first visit to a nude beach.

Let me add a new chapter to the Flynn- Hearst escapology:
“There was nothing quite like dinner at St. Donat’s,” wrote Enfys McMurry, the Welsh-born author of “Hearst’s Other Castle” who now lives in Iowa. Despite spending cartfuls of money on renovations, Hearst only visited the St. Donat’s estate five times. But he is surely remembered in the nearby villages. Not saddled by British convention, his was not a “Downton Abbey” existence. Rumors spread quickly in nearby villages of wild parties, public intoxication, nude swimming and sexual license, wrote McMurry. Today it remains controversial is any of that involved Hearst himself, except for his devoted, and public, affair with Davies. “We always had a good time at St. Donat’s,” wrote Davies in her autobiography.
Seems whenever Flynn was in the fun would begin.

Yes, indeed, st.shangheinz, I imagine Flynnie joined in on the ‘sinning’ at St. Donat’s, diving in the Lake with WR’s daughter, I mean Marion’s neice. … Wouldn’t be surprised if he also “warmed his feet”, played “hide the hot dog”, and did some “pole vaulting” with a royalette or three, a ‘la Annie Sheridan.
