I've just been watching Olivier in Rebecca and have been revisiting Olivier's work.
I have a few biographies on Olivier but Errol is not mentioned in these. I can't believe they both did not have any contact with each other, especially knowing both Laurence & Errol were good friends of Noel Coward.
Does anyone know, have read or have photos of Laurence and Errol together. I suspect both would have been good friends or got along,and again as David Niven was a friend of Laurence's, they must have been friends.
If anyone can add further, would appreciate the information.

I've never come across any connection between the two and frankly don't think they would have much in common. As for the third in the triad of Noel Coward, Flynn's friendship with the man only seems to have been as a result of them both having homes in Jamaica.

I posted on this yesterday but the post seems to be lost in cyberspace.
I have a photograph of Errol and Laurence Olivier (courtesy of Rick Dodd). I will have to try and dig it out. It was taken in the 1950s at some point.
My only recollection of a Flynn/Olivier connection comes in David Tomlnson's autobiography 'Luckier than Most'. Tomlinson worked in Rep, at Northampton a few years after Errol was there. In the 50s he and Errol became friends, Tomlinson even took Errol to meet his mother – which kind of reminded me of the scene in 'My Favourte Year, where Benji takes Allan Swann home to meet his mother. Tomlinson recalls, in his book, that he and Olivier spoke of Flynn and Olivier was very, very complimentary going as far as saying that Flynn could have been a 'great' stage actor given the opportunity.
Luckier than Most is well worth a read.

Sorry for the above post guys… as you may have noticed my keyboard is playing up at the moment. My 'i' key seems to have given up on me… so please forgive any errors.
Diana – A couple of quick points. Have you seen Olivier in 'The Entertainer'? If not, please try and get hold of that one. For me it is one of Olivier's finest screen performances. There's also Olivier's radio version of 'Goodbye Mr Chips, which you can catch on youtube… that is quite fascinating.
Over 70 years later and no-one has matched his Heathcliffe in Wuthering Heights. The 39 version is one of 'the' great films.
