A QUIZ

What does this image above have to do with Errol?

Clues to use:

1) He started it, in more ways than one.

2) It involved Warners Bros.

3) It almost involved Olivia.

4) OMG was involved first.

5) It’s still happening.

This photo added on Wednesday, June 27 (2018), after Karl’s correct answer to the quiz:

No initials for a Flynn film, nor an elongated toothless Howdy Doody-like effigy as a co-star comes to mind…

Hate to be a “quiz”-ling on this one, but had to go to the net and STILL no clue…

Can you give one or preferably MORE!

I’m sure these clues will put you on the trail, Karl:

    – The whole place lit up after Errol arrived.

    – Errol carried the torch for Olivia, who happened to be preoccupied with a horrendous hangover.

    – He has any older “cousin”, aka OMG, , who is also older than Burning Man.

    – Things are less gloomy every year when OMG’s gone.

Clipped quotes from a contemporaneous news report:

      “Headed by Flynn”

The delegation was headed by Errol Flynn and Miss de Havil-land, co-stars of the saga …

Brought into town by bus from the nearby freight spur … the Hollywood delegation was welcomed … in front of the old Palace of the Governors, where the flags of five nations have waved …

Substituting for Miss de Havilland, Errol Flynn officially opened the three-day celebration by touching a torch to a gigantic figure of ___ _____ Spanish for “bogeyman.”

[It] sputtered a bit in the dampness but finally got the spirit of the occasion and went up in flames, consuming-in theory at least-all the headaches of the celebration.

Among the Hollywood celebrities who appeared for the big event were Nancy Carroll, Rita Hayworth, Johnny Weismuller, Irene Hervey. Allan Jones, Arline Judge, Priscilla Lane, Jean Parker, May Robson and Charles Ruggles.

A band concert and Indian dance show completed the afternoon’s entertainment. A [grand event] at La Fonda brought the evening to an end.

P.S. It’s in the news again, stirring up a big controversy, with rare 1940 imagery of Errol lighting things up being shown on local news shows.

Is it an effigy of Michael Curtiz? I’m kidding! I don’t know, some type of ritual for the success of SANTA FE TRAIL?

Holy Hellfire, Paula, you may have solved the mystery of who modelled for the original!

No wonder Errol agreed to set it ablaze!

The National Governors Association (NGA) is coming next month / to see Old Man Gloom’s (OMG’s) little cousin set on fire, just as Errol did for Olivia in 1940. They are referring to the event as “Noche de Fuego”.

The combustible character in question is officially called T__ C____. But sometimes it is referred to as “Uncle Boogieman”. Errol was the first to torch it, burning the gloom away in Santa Fe.
