Great story about race they say the yacht a 42 foot wooden yawl named Cheerioo 11 once belonged to Errol. Is this right. Is this the Zaca renamed. Genene.

    Yes, thank you, Genene. Cheerio II was indeed Errol’s yacht, his first in California. It’s skipper, Dick NcNish, is an absolutely terrific guy, who has done an absolutely magnificent job restoring, preserving, and maintaining, this nautical treasure.

    My elder son and I were with Skipper McNish on the Cheerio II a couple of years ago, a wonderful experience during which we took dozens of photos, some included in this post below:

    Errol used to sail this, which he bought from Silent star George K. Arthur and briefly renamed The Bachelor, to Catalina, Coronado, and Mexico, for fun, fishing, and (in the case of Coronado, for example) tennis.

    The Cheerio II is just one of many sailing vessels Errol owned even before he purchased the Sirocco in Jan. of 1938, which is 7 years before he bought the Zaca in October of 1945.

      What are the other ones, Ada, and do you have any photos or news accounts??

      Cheerio II, first but very briefly called The Bachelor, was Errol’s yacht immediately preceding Sirocco (II).

      I know of no yacht owned by Errol in America prior to Cheerio II, or while he was in England with Warner Brothers. Were there any between the South Seas Sirocco and Coast of California Cheerio II?
