    I’ll have to read this, this guy sounds wilder even than Errol, if that’s possible.

    Finally a book about Freddie! Long over due. Not a lot out there about the slippery Mr McEvoy. I know of his marriages of convenience to wealthy and socially positioned women, along with his sporting heroics, and the unfortunate circumstances of his death off the Moroccan coast. Will be good to hopefully find out about the rest of his life, and hopefully more detail on how he got to become best mates with Errol and some of their roistering exploits.

    Yes, indeed! This should be good. There’s so much to the Freddie-Flynn friendship I’d love to know, from exactly how they met in (Sydney after Errol was expelled from Shore, I believe) to if they reconnected in Europe before the War, to all they did during and after the War. Also, I’d like to know what and who was on board the Kangaroo when it sunk, where it was sailing to (or from), and, of course, what caused her to sink.

    Another great story for the big screen! But, who plays Freddie, and who plays Flynn??

    The author says that there is a possibility that Freddie was murdered. His body was found nude and his scalp taken off according to him. Two of the others found dead aboard the vessel had something to do with Nazis during the war, and there was talk of missing diamonds … another had been charged with murder under another name, he says. Will be a very interesting read, no doubt. We all heard the story of how the ship foundered and Freddie swam ashore to find help, but found nobody and swam back to get his wife and both drowned in the strong currents. Apparently, there is more to it than this: another mystery that demands more looking into and the author has done that work …

      Suicide Freddie supposedly met his match in 6 foot 5 Austrian Manfred Lentner, a man that was searched for by Interpol after the disappearance of a prostitute in post war Berlin. Another man went to the gallows for the crime after she reappeared after the first rays of spring laid bare her icey grave in the surrounding woods of the German capital. Meanwhile Lenter was caught in his hometown near Vienna, but escaped again and went disguised as a pilgerim first to Rome and then to Genova, where he met dashing McEvoy, who made him his unright hand henchman. When I spoke to Lentner`s wife, sister and nephew I became aware that for each of them he held a different story. There`s more to come on that in a review about Frank Walker`s book as soon as I can lay eyes on his oeuvre.

        Yacht Survivor Arrested for Austrian Murder

        CASABLANCA, Tuesday

        Walter Prexmarer, one of the three survivors
        from the Australian Fred McEvoy’s
        yacht, Kangaroo, has been arrested
        in connection with a murder in Austria
        a few years ago. Casablanca police
        arrested Prexmarer, whose real name is
        Manfred Lentner, aiter an Austrian police
        request for his extradition. .

        Lentner, an Austrian, was one of the three
        who escaped’ by swimming ashore when
        the Kangaroo was wrecked off the
        Moroccan coast last Monday.

        McEvoy, his wife, and four others perished.
        Police said Lentner was recognised in Austria
        from photographs published in newspapers
        after the yacht disaster.

        According to police, Lentner is alleged
        to havee said he tried to escape from a
        motor factory in the Soviet zone of Austria
        because he was “worn out by compulsory
        exhausting working hours,” but he was caught.
        “I fired a submachine gun and the burst knocked
        a man down,” he is alleged to have told police.

        Herr Prexmarer sounds like a wonderful fella, sherlockheinz. Just apparently overworked by the Soviets, then ended up in a Kangaroo court.

      An awful book that uses Hinghan as hard evidence. A book full of gossip, lies, assumptions. No thank you
