It appears Salkind wasn’t so kind to Errol. Wasn’t it he who pulled out of William Tell, leaving Flynn in mountainous debt? Ralph and shangheinz will know.
Superman Tim, the Salkinds, Michail and Alexander, a father and son producer tandem out of Czarian Russia, were always carrying around a book with approximately 150 historic storylines from the old continent and were peddling them to studios in search of movie stardom. Their cheque book unfortunately was not as thick. They worked with Orson Welles and did hold a stake in the Tell fiasco, but not until much later in the 70s did they strike it rich with a new take on the 3-4 Musketeers. 3rd generation Ilya finally made the big leagues with Superman. Will Tell by the way was not a suggested by them, but was an MGM vehicle at first.
