What singing-songwriting cowboy?
Began his Hollywood acting career in an Errol Flynn film.
Once played Custer in a movie.
Played the villain in a super dooper Gary Cooper movie.
Performed something for Raoul Walsh still remembered very well in Hollywood.
Acted with Clint Eastwood, on TV and the big screen.
Had a principal role in a great Gene Hackman film.
Made a movie with John Wayne, also.
Was sometimes seen on Hee Haw.
Heard in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, too.
Wrote a monstrously big song heard every Halloween.
Had a long time connection to Roger Miller.
For those who may want to scream after hearing that, here’s this three-second work of art:

Amazingly, he’s in every film shown in the compilation below. By my unscientific guesstimate, he may be in more major Hollywood films than any other person in movie history.
This is from his movie with Raoul Walsh, the first film with his scream:

Sheb Wooley, of Flying Purple Eater fame. The Flynn movie was Rocky Mountain. Who’d have thunk?

Wow, you are extremely good, Barb – a quiz master! Congratulations, you are our new Queen of Quizzes!
Yes, indeed, who’d of thunk of Shep Wooley? … Then again, there are screams in Purple People Eater somewhat reminiscent of his immortal scream in Distant Drums for Raoul Walsh.

Tim, I do love trivia and quizzes, but I can’t take all the credit on this one. Google helped with coming up with a few Halloween songs, and once I saw Flying Purple People Eater, I knew Sheb Wooley. But I also was amazed at his list of credits, as I only knew him from that song.
